The picture of ‘camels’ is actually an illusion created by the rifts in the sand. They are shadows, not animals. Nonetheless, it is still beautiful!
Oh yeah, totally, rifts in the sand… right… You can SEE the damn camels that are casting the shadows. Use your damn eyes, geez.
Chelseaneedsglasses don’t be so narky. Chelsea is correct, in that the photo has been taken from directly overhead and the camel shapes are the shadows they have cast.
But she said “They are shadows, not animals”, not “the more obvious camel-like dark shapes are the shadows while the smaller, lighter smudges at their feet are the real animals.” It’s not an illusion at all, just a different perspective than you’d expect.
It’s still an illusion. At first glance you think you’re looking at camels, but you’re actually looking at their shadows instead. It’s a trick of the eyes, a different perspective that produces something different than you initially expected, an illusion.

the dark image is definitely the shadow and the ye llowish/tan things at their feet are the real camel. the pictures just taken from the sky but there are camels there. shadows of camels dont just magically appear without their being a camel lol
But they are still animals casting shadows. so….they ARE animals. and excellent perspective from above too. awesome photos.

“Rifts in the sand” do not make shadows that look like camels.
That’s the whole point of the picture…….. it looks like the camels but its actually their shadow.. I don’t understand what the “nonetheless” part of your comment even means. I’m also pretty sure that everyone who spent more than 5 seconds looking at that picture could figure that out for themselves.

The camels are gorgeous. No need to be snarky about it either. Jeez, people. The picture is sensational. Love seeing the effect of the shadows on the sand. And then, you look again and realize that the actual camels are smaller than the big dark ones. Good picture. How’d they get such a nice overhead shot I wonder.
